Day 205 - Update and Still Smoke Free

Posted in Staying quit 25 Apr 2019

Day 205 and still smoke free. Still occasionally think I would like a cigarette when with smokers but quickly tell myself I'm a non smoker. Relatively easy to resist temptation now and I also dislike the smell of cigarette smoke.

For those just starting the quit journey or those who have made it further, it does get easier and is worth the effort.

I'm halfway to your point, and feeling like I can make it. But they do say the period between 2-5 months of not smoking is called no mans land. Those around you are not concerned and its very easy to restart during this time. So having been thru this a least 4 times before, I know I have to be careful. Today I witnessed a few interesting craves sorta like a Deva vu, but I made it after telling myself I no longer smoke.

Geo, sounds like you have things under control. Your right about how easy it is to restart, you have made it this far so you are well on the way to beating this addiction.

Have decided to make 31 May my quit date. World no smoke day. I know (think) it will be hard. Get really stressed just thinking about quitting. Have bought some Nicotine gum and lozenges to practice with. Help me by telling me how you managed day 1.

I have smoked for 54 years.

Dontnico, Nicorette spray worked for me especially in the early days. Its not a magic bullet and other people have found they own methods of quitting. I wont lie, wasn't easy in the early days, however it does get easier with time. To answer you question simply, Nicorette spray and saying NO to the craving in my head demanding a cigarettes is how I survived the early days. Remember its an addiction that takes time to beat, if you aren't addicted why spend money on something that's bad for your health, finances and makes you a social outcast in places. Best of luck, you can beat the addiction, I have and I'm was addicted for nearly 50 years as have many others on this site.

Dontnico-I wish I could help. I spent my first 9 days of quitting in the hospital. When I got out, I used patches for a couple of weeks. I wish you the best of luck. It can be done. You can become a non-smoker. I have the faith.

    Hi :)
I'm hoping your email notification is on..
I used the Report Abuse tab, on IcanQuit's last post, to ask them directly, if they are even paying attention. I got the same blank response, that they were going to try this for a couple weeks. DUH.. By then, we will be tired of complaining, and they will think it is ok. I really hate the new paging system, more than the TopStories.. Rather than messing with post here, and disturbing new quitters, If you agree with me, and just want it back like it was, tell them here,,

Maybe then they will listen, if enough of us complain.. :)

Dontnico almost 50 years smoking for me. You.must use net or something so that you keep calm in the early days. Then you wrestle with your emotional self, triggers and that horrible voice in your mind that trys to get you to have JUST ONE!!! That thought is always there. BUT if you have JUST.ONE you go back to DAY 1. I don't want to go there. Try to do this for YOU!
