Learn To Live without cigarettes then Learn To Live without Nicotine

Keep attempting over and over until you succeed, with each attempt your mind and body remembers these times of abstinence and you will not only know what to expect but you will become stronger at not smoking. I was on patches and smoking intermittently for 6 months, i kept trying until i got to a point where i told myself no more i will not have another smoke. I found that the first 6 weeks going from cigarettes to 21 mg patches was the most difficult but it was doable once i told myself that i am going to do this and i will have to live with the withdrawal and cravings, period. The withdrawal and cravings lessened around week 6 then i went from 21 mg to 14 mg patches which was easier then cigarette to patch. after 2 weeks I went from 14 mg to 7 mg for one week only. I became so sick of wearing patches and felt strong enough to go cold turkey from there(nicotine free), my cravings were mild and as each week went by the cravings intensity got less and less. I've been nicotine free for 21 months now and i have the very odd faint craving now and then, its so faint that i allow myself to feel it until it passes and it reminds me how fortunate i am to have conquered this evil drug. its a positive hit for me as i also remember those i know who went to the grave earlier then expected because of this drug. Those TV ads about Never Give UP On Giving UP are true.

That's great TWS. I admire your perseverence and determination. It is the one mission thing in life that is priceless. The self pride and confidence is amazing. Great to have extra money and freedom not to mention health. Despite my stroke after quit for a year, who knows if I would have recovered or even lived if I still smoked a pack a day?

We can quit smoking. There is no better time than the present.
