Hi there.

I may not be commenting as much as I used to. And it doesn't necessarily mean I'm not logging in as often either. I do log in on Friday's to grab a print-out of my days smokefree and my tally of money saved so far...

I cut that out from the print-out and glue it directly into my diary every week. And yippee! Another $185.50 not wafting up in smoke!

Anyway, I am starting to form my own opinion that smoking, for the most part is habit! Or is it addiction?

In my case I didn't know. So in my early days I had to tell myself, over and over.

"I DONT SMOKE - No Matter What...

Hello PuffNoMore. That is a very interesting topic. I wonder too!! Could it be a little of both? Habit AND addiction? Maybe in the beginning of the quit one works on addiction then after some time period, one works on the habit? Very good question,...

Hi guys me too not commenting as much or visiting site as much but am still visiting at least once or twice a week. Great question and at this stage I'm thinking it's a bit of both and speaking only for myself I think it helped me in covering up a lack of emotional maturity. Have a magical day ❤️🙏❤️

    Habit Addiction Crutch

I have often heard that nicotine is just as addictive as heroin. Is that true? Or why, would many people say it, if it turns out to be lies and over-exaggerations?
In my young teen years, I had myself and most of my friends thinking we were hooked on cannabis, but in the latter years, I realized that I was more hooked on the little bits of tobacco we called spin added to the pot-mix.
If I look back now, I'm more inclined to think we were addicted to the ritual, rather than the potency of any mix! So, for me, I think I was addicted to the action (habit) of smoking ciggs and less so addicted to the drug of nicotine!
Its was just a crutch to fill those awkward voids of time> what a waste it was...

Nicotine is not as powerful as we were led to believe. Remember that we fell into all the lies! Decades ago everyone smoked , our parents smoked and told us not to......they must enjoy it!
Everyone comes to know that they should quit but also believes it to be difficult. Many believed that it was as hard to get off of nicotine as it was heroin. Whether drug or alcohol we can make up our minds to quit. We just found it easier to make excuses and continue on.......maybe we had even come to actually believe that we enjoyed it. In reality, we only enjoyed not being plagued by the cravings if we did not light up. We believed that the cravings would last years and years. However, we find that the cravings do lessen over time and are not as much physical as they are psychological. Some have experienced pain and hardship , or did they conjure it up in their minds? Once I thought I had a fish bone lodged in my throat, but once the doctor said "No" it stopped bothering me. We have very powerful minds. I hope that used properly in the quit, it can make your quit even easier, as mine was.S

So while nicotine is the addictive substance it is short lived compared to the psychological dependence.

The habit and crutch are what we need to change up.
Our thinking needs to be adjusted.
Smoking does nothing and never did.
We would not let anyone dictate our lives, yet we pay to have smoking rule our time.

Maybe we should just "Think about it!"

As far as I am concerned it's Addiction for sure. Facebook is a habit because I never get physical cravings or pains if I not on it. Smoking is a physical addiction.
