Find something else to do when you used to smoke

The cravings for me yesterday were terrible. So I would get up from my desk and walk to my bedroom. It's ten steps either way, so as I walked I took deep breaths of clean air and told myself I am profiting from inhaling all that clean air into my lungs and my mouth will continue to stay clean and free of tobacco. I did that probably twenty times yesterday, but I SURVIVED and today I am so proud of myself and happy with myself. 100 steps to overcome the craving.

You people here are the absolute best. I can't even remember now how many days it's been since I quit, and the cravings -- although intense for a couple of days -- are virtually gone. Stay well out there in this group. There are enough problems in the world without nicotine adding to them. Among the things you are thankful for today, be thankful that you've taken the step to be smoke free. It's the greatest gift you'll ever give yourself.

Woo hoo Goodlands, you have got this......you should be so proud of yourself. Every time you beat that little voice in your head, you are closer to the day that you silence it forever. Reward yourself, you deserve it. You have the right mindset and you are already a winner. You got this.

I do have this! Whooooo hoooo!!! 18 DAYS without cigarettes. 7 months without and then a relapse of three weeks after I went and bought a joint and a package of cigarettes, and then another joint, and then more cigarettes. For three weeks it went on, and then I quit cold turkey -- 18 days now. I don't even know why I started again. I knew I was going to -- for days before I actually did. Sort of a niggling at the back of my brain perhaps to test myself to see if I really could start and then stop again. Stupid! In all rehab sessions, councillors tell you repeatedly -- don't try and get back into the ring with your addiction to see if you can beat it. You CAN'T. DO NOT TRY.

The problem is that the cannabis store is in the same shopping complex where I go to buy groceries, so each time I go there, I kind of want a joint. The feeling isn't over-powering, but I've always associated smoking marijuana with smoking cigarettes. Last few days more difficult. Mother -- at 94 -- took a fall and broke her hip, but I'm using the stress as an excuse. I remember what one of you said -- nicotine doesn't relieve stress at all. I take three deep breaths, count my blessings that I'm not coughing anymore, walk 100 steps and the feeling goes.
