Working it out

I thought I would post about the benefits of quitting smoking for me as it may help other people.

I used to post about my cravings but they have almost died away now and I still get an occasional one or an urge to smoke again but then I think of all the effort I have put in to remaining a non smoker.

Anyway physical exercise is a great way to de stress and it also gets rid of toxins in the body so it’s a winner. I find swimming the most relaxing. When I smoked I was walking but I could barely make it up a hill, now it’s easy.

I think a big thing is replacing smoking with new things to do which requires some thought. Then you are not just sitting around feeling bored or feeling like you are deprived and missing out on something.

The fact is you aren’t. There is everything to gain as a quitter. It is definitely a new mindset too that you gain but which has to be worked on, at least that has been my experience.

I smoked for 35 years so it was a real addiction and I usually smoked quite a lot especially if I had been stressed. Stress and anxiety seem to be the number one reasons why people smoke but there are many other healthy solutions waiting to be explored.

I am so glad to hear that you are working it out Cuba.

Cravings are a thing of the past and the future holds many bounties as a non-smoker. Congratulations! There really is nothing to fear but fear itself!
