I don’t just want to quit, I need to. I have 43 and have been smoking for 28 years, more than half my life. I can feel my lungs struggling almost everyday now. My problem is willpower and keeping my hands busy, I get bored very easily. My dr has suggested zyban and I would love to hear people’s experiences on it please. TIA

I tried Zyban years ago and felt forgetful and foggy. Of course , since joining this site, I find that many feel that way regardless of how they quit.

We make excuses to smoke, perhaps as not to face failure or we don't believe that we can. Read all the success stories and see that it is doable. Read of the determination and the different ways people find the road to success and the pitfalls to avoid. Learning raises our dopamine, and positive thinking yields better results than negativity.

I quit cold turkey 4 years ago and never intend to look back. I rarely think about it at all except to stay in touch here and to hopefully instill believe in others. Champix does not contain nicotine, so is a viable option and has much success. It can cause depression and mood swings in some, so I caution users to let others know they are taking it and be aware of changes.

However one quits smoking, they are winners!
