I started smoking in 1984. Over the years I've quit a few times, the longest time was 4 years. I noticed I had digital clubbing, so I went to the GP and got a CXR. As an ex-nurse, I can read xrays, so as soon as the images were uploaded, I took a look and could see that my ILD had gotten worse and my heart was slightly enlarged. However, when I went to the GP follow up, the CXR had shown a mass in my lung. So off I went for a HRCT, and apparently there is no mass.
Good news, right? Wrong! There's no mass in my lungs, just my ILD but instead of the mass, I have lesions on my liver and enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes.
I wish I could go back to 1984 and not be so stupid.
