Changing my routine

After 50+ years as a smoker for the first time I've decided that I want/need to be a non-smoker. Two reasons, 1. Health 2. Cost. After so many years it just becomes part of your life, a lot of times lighting up without thinking. One other reason, the cost aside, it's now embarassing to actually be seen as a smoker, particularly when nobody I socialise with, or in my family smoke. For the last 6 months I've genuinely cut down by nearly half, but the time has come. One thought I've had to start is to take a weeks holiday as the start, different daily routines to change habits. Anybody else tried this?

Yes Greg. Worked for many people including myself. However I did return to my workplace at about day 11 or 12 and I had to put up with it for a couple of weeks and by that time I had Freedom.

I simply made my mind up to quit. I did the dishes while boiling the kettle instead of lighting up. I kept busy, I kept them in a drawer so I knew I could have one but CHOSE not to.
I quit with hubby smoking next to me at my insistence. This was MY CHOICE.
Remember while you are smoking to make it uncomfortable. It is a time waster. It is an addiction. Have your fix in a corner, alone and think about it. Taste all the poisons in it.
Above all do not FEAR this change but EMBRACE it.
Opportunity knocks.....what are you waiting for?
