My current dreams are nightmares

I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this but I'm currently 22 days quit a week after I quit I started having dreams that just seem to be getting worse. It started off as having a smoke in my dream but then slapping it out of my mouth and walking away, those ones were fine but it changed to seeing my partner having one in the dream and me getting 'revenge' on him by having 1 myself, but now my dreams have gotten to the point that I'm buying heaps of smokes and somehow hiding them in my wallet, I'm going nuts because I'm starting to loose control of reality and dreams as the most recent one I thought it was real and I started to harm myself but once I got up to check my wallet and saw it empty I realised it was all a dream. Please tell me I'm not alone in this I feel like if I go and talk to my dr about this he's going to admit me to the psych ward.

Hello I have no clue how I stumbled on this post but live outside of Washington DC and i decided to create an account only to comment on your story …. No you are not alone I have stopped smoking for now 45 days cold turkey (cigarette and weed ) after smoking for 20 years
And let me tell you the dreams are so vivid and seem so real in the beginning it was driving me mad I felt like I was watching a
New movie every night with heavy cigarette product placement lol … but it only gets better with time … chin up you not crazy 😂

So nice of Zach to reach out to you to assure you that you are not crazy. Quitting smoking affects everyone differently and even I have had dreams of smoking only to waken, realize it was a dream and be ever so thankful. So you are not alone and there are many here who rather keep to themselves rather than reply.
These reactions when quitting smoking will disappear in time. Stick with your decision and reap the many rewards that are due to you. :)

When you stop using nicotine you re-wire your brain.
A lot of this happens when you're asleep.
Weird dreams can be part of that.
It's scary but it will settle down.
    You are not going mad.
(P.s. If you're using nicotine patches take them off your body before bed. They can cause night mares and weird dreams.)
