Hi. Just popped in to share that I will be 4 years smoke free in a few hours. I remember the seemingly unending cravings I had when I first quit and the help I gained from this forum. People I didn’t know giving support and suggestions made my quit journey possible. I have saved $36000 and possibly my life. I was 67 when I quit and after around 53 years of smoking I finally had enough. For me it ...

Just on 3 1/2 years quit and still can’t quite believe I did it after 53 years of self and family abuse. Yes the early months were difficult but once my mind engaged in quitting 100% then things got easier. There are numerous ways of quitting but I took a selfie of myself smoking my last cigarette and went totally cold turkey. Still got that selfie as a reminder. Benefits as below Cough t...

Just over 3 years 4 months quit and still marveling that it has been possible to quit after 53 years of total nicotine poison addiction. First cigarette I had with my mate at 14 made me violently sick. But I persisted with the second one and achieved a lifelong habit which cost me 3 heart stents about £200000 and a lifetime of addiction misery generally. Thanks Icanquit and all my peers on th...

1200 days quit today and looking back at how lucky I am and catching up with some fellow quitters. Good to see that quite a few have stayed quit. I will be eternally grateful to this site and those mentors who helped me when I first joined. Probably saved in excess of $15000 through quitting and my improved health but most of all my sense of self worth whenever remember the great achievement of...

Grit your teeth and go through the pain. That’s what I decided to do three years ago. I joined this forum a few months later and really glad I did. As with all of us I soon picked up some quit buddies and I will always be eternally grateful to them. I realise that one puff will put me back in the road to destruction so I often visit here and check out the recent posts. Thanks icanquit.

1045 days free of nicotine and rarely think of cigarettes other than those poor people having to sneak out for a “ fix “. After 53 years of smoking I finally quit. For me I was just sick of the whole habit. I had half tried to quit a few times but this time I knew enough was enough. I took a selfie of me smoking my last cigarette , took a deep breath , and made a decision to face whatever came at...

1000 days quit today and appreciate all the help reaching this milestone. My mother passed two weeks ago and I was screaming for a cigarette. Thanks to all the help I have had here over the last 2.7 years I was able to resist until the temptation passed. Thanks Icanquit and all those who shared my journey in the early days. Dobbin.

    Rarely have ciggy thoughts.

969 days from my last cigarette and it still amazes me that I rarely think of a cigarette let alone desire one. For those that have just started just hang on because the rewards are fantastic. I have a cold at the moment and I was remembering those dreadful bouts of bronchitis caused from smoking. Hot and cold sweats. Rasping coughs. Bringing up foul green stuff. Coughing all night trying to br...
