Day 4 is my achilles heal

Posted in Quit experiences 16 Apr 2022

I have slipped up again. On day 4 again. I think o have identified why I keep letting this happen (I grow complacent knowing that nicotine is out of my system and I’m underprepared for the cravings on day 4). To combat this I have set up reward for myself on day 5 (kids will be back at school so I’ll have some me time). I am heading off for a shower now because I know I won’t want to stink once ...

    Day 3

Day 3 today. I have managed most of the day without to much fuss today although I did wake up to a nagging craving. It wasn’t intense but it seems to have reminded my mind that I was a smoker and that I probably would like one, which of course made me think about it until I was able to focus on something else. I am currently having another one just like it. Time to lie in bed and distract myself...

    Starting again

I have now tried to quit using every form of nrt available but my body does not seem to cope with nrt very well. My most recent attempt was using patches. I was on the patches for a month and found quitting to be quite easy that way however, after a month my hair started to fall out. Unfortunately I am self absorbed enough that the thought of going bald was enough to make me rip the patch off w...

    Life after smoking

So I'm checking in a day early because I know tomorrow is going to be hectic but it will Be my 1 month milestone for not smoking. The actual not smoking is getting easier everyday. I barely think about it now and barely notice when others light up in front of me. Everyday I am learning something new about myself and to be honest it's not always something good. This week my gums began to feel v...

    The domino effect

Posted in Reasons to quit 8 Sep 2019

3 weeks ago I had my last drag on my last smoke. 3 weeks ago I couldn't afford to pay my bills, 3 weeks ago I couldn't sit through an entire game of monopoly with my big kids or chase my toddler in the back yard without stopping for a smoke break or 10. 3 weeks ago I felt down and out and 1 phone bill away from potential homelessness. I clung to those smokes like they were my only friend, the o...

    Facing fear

I have been smoke free for 18 days. GO ME!! In the last few days I've started noticing some changes/symptoms in myself. The biggest of them being anxiety. I had a moment a couple of hours ago where I blamed being nicotine free for these 'new' issues but then I got thinking about this forum and remembered what you would all tell me about having a positive mindset and I realised that these arnt '...

    2 weeks tiday

Today marks 14 days since I actively chose to harm myself and those around me with a cigarette. I feel proud, free, and empowered. I look back and I can't believe how much energy I used to waste on smoking, things like staying up that bit later at night to have that last smoke before bed, or walking all the way back to the car to sneak that smoke before heading back into that event/function/shopp...

I didn't intend to post again until I hit the 2 week mark but I feel like a couple of you have truly taken me under your wing and I'm so grateful for that and wanted you to know that I'm still succeeding thanks to your help. So here it is... Today I did my groceries it's the first time I've been to a retailer that sells cigarettes since I quit. I paid for my groceries and the lady behind the smo...

    My first week

Posted in Staying quit 25 Aug 2019

Today marks 1 week smoke free. Day 2 was almost unbearable and day 5 wasn't much better. I don't seem to struggle through the day much but come afternoon when I'm doing homework/dinner time rush and all my mum stuff I find it really hard. I miss having an excuse and a reminder to take 5 mins to myself to stop my temper from exploding. I get frustrated with a lack of coping mechanisms for those ...

    I Never wanted to quit

Posted in Quit experiences 23 Aug 2019

5 days! I've gone 5 days without a smoke, but I'm not excited I don't feel proud and honestly I don't know why I even bothered? Fact1. My health was never a driving force to quit Fact2. I couldn't afford it anymore I made myself a promise that after a fortnight I would treat myself to a shopping spree to celebrate with some new clothes- not going to happen coz my car broke down and now I can't...
