This week was a rollercoaster. A lot of tests and challenges but I overcame them all without smoking and feeling really good about that. It really is a lot to do with your mental. Once you make up your mind you can do it. The trick is to keep your mind made up. NOPE!

    Day 1

Finally back to fight for my freedom. I quit cold turkey around this time last year for over 100 days only to fall for the "just one" trap yet again. I have since tried about 100 times to stop again without going more than a little over 24 hours. I have decided to use NRT this time around since I can't seem to manage cold turkey again at the moment. I am so over smoking and all of the awfulness i...

    Hopeful

I am so frustrated with myself for still letting myself be stuck in this trap I could cry. I have listened to and read Allen Carr so many times at this point I could probably recite it from memory. I have given myself so many pep talks and written out my why's on numerous occasions. I have had a couple of good streaks this past year. I just don't get what I'm missing. Why I can't seem to get it. ...

    Here we go again!

So I got to over 100 days smoke free then fell for the " I'll just have one" trap. Three days later I was back to a pack a day. Have been trying to quit ever since and have failed every time. Today I decided I'm really ready. Quit about four hours ago. Starting to get some strong cravings. Wish me luck! And everyone beware the just one trap!

    Day 80!

Posted in Hints and tips 1 Jun 2022

Have reached 80 days nic free. I decided to go cold turkey this time around after failed attempts with nrt. I don't know if I read it here or somewhere else but what has made all the difference for me this time around is to consider myself a non smoker from the beginning and not a smoker that is trying to quit. It seems so obvious now but I never thought of it before. Hope this helps somebody. I ...

    So tired!

I am wrapping up week two cold turkey. I had previously used the patch to help when I quit but decided I just wanted the nicotine out of my body as quickly as possible! I have been extremely tired the last two weeks. Like, can not keep my eyes open, dozing off in meetings, unbearable tired. Is this normal? If so, how long does it last? Doesn't really matter as I am not giving up quitting no matte...

    Trying to get going

Hello! I haven't been able to access this site for a while now and decided to try it this morning and it works! I had previously quit for about 70 days or so but my mom passed away just before Christmas and I was totally overwhelmed by this and stupidly thought smoking would provide comfort. I am now struggling to quit again. I have ordered some patches to help out with the initial tough bit. It ...

    6 weeks free!

Posted in Hints and tips 28 Nov 2021
    2 Comments

Today is 6 weeks since I started my umpteenth and final quit! I do get cravings still but just play it forward to that couple of minutes of a nicotine high resulting in me being a full-time nicotine addict again and it truly is not worth it. Smelling the stale smoke on others also helps my resolve. I really didn't realize how awful I smelled all of the time. Glad to not have to go out in the cold...
