Just thought I would pop in having now quit for 4 years 2 months. This forum was a life saver for me as I had tried quitting so many times in the past. Smoked for 53 years and was gripped with the addiction. Hated myself for smoking. Always felt tired. Smelled of smoke. Coughing at night constantly. Fear of illness. Knew I was wasting money.

I went cold turkey and held on for grim death.

I will be eternally grateful for my quit buddies as the share the journey in the ups and down of quitting was a life saver.

Now rarely think about cigarettes and have saved nearly $40000

I’m 71 years of age and finally totally free of the demon.

Always good to remember though that just one puff could put me back just like snakes and ladders.

Hi Dobbin. Good to know you are still 100 days behind me... You realise that is a huge responsibility. Imagine how I might feel if you erred. Probably the same as me erring. I doubt if either of us would dare to take that one puff as we don't have to do so to know where it would find us. Me too, saved about $40000 and that has been very noticeable and made life easier. Cartons of cigarettes have risen from $196 to $285. A fantastic pay rise as I call it. Better than any employer offer. See you back here after your next airing on this site.

Sorry to tell you Dobbins, but I don't think you are ever going to overlap Lia! Great job though and I hope you are enjoying life with good health and spending some of the money on things that truly make you happy.
This forum has been invaluable to me, as i later learned, taking up a new hobby or good habit is helpful and learning raises dopamine. Participating on this forum contribute to this end for me.
I will never forget Safe and his wisdom of NOPE. I acknowledge that nicotine will win that contest. Which reminds me that i just read something about sunflower seeds and quitting smoking but I can't remember what it was that it contained. So are sunflower seeds, especially if shelling keeping your hands busy, and are healthy for you but also contain something in the aid of quitting smoking.
I remember being so excited about meeting Red67, Robyn, Yourself and Leanne (and others) who seemed to be bonded, but more than that were believers in the mindset as I am. I knew then that I wasn't special in not having cravings but really on to something that could be shared.
So thank you Dobbins for your support to that end. You are truly an inspiration and congratulations on your many happy years quit.

Hi! All of you are so inspiring to me. 2 days now and needing to stay motivated. The Forum is the best quit aid. It's really not a physical addiction for me. Knowing the trigger times helps. You st a rt to feel.in control for the first time in his many years. Thank you all

Day 4 now. Surviving. It's hard but I'm not going to go back. I just have to get used to bring a non smoker. Triggers are everywhere and I need to change a few things in my life to be more positive.
