Hi All. My name is Alvin. I have been a heavy smoker for the past 30 years but I have finally decided to quit smoking as of in 4 hours time. I have been smoking 60 cigarettes a day for the past 15 years (really strong ones as well). Over the past couple of months, I have started to feel really, really unhealthy (more so than usual) and I'm starting to feel like I'm pushing my body beyond its limits of how much tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide it is capable of handling before it starts to develop serious health problems. You should always listen to your body and over the past couple of months, I have heard it loud and clear and it has been telling me that I need to knock the ciggies on the head. I am quite prepared for the fact that in around 4 hours time, I'll be entering a world of pain and I will be going on the toughest journey I have ever been on in my entire life, much tougher than I can possibly comprehend right now but I am determined more than ever to succeed. I will succeed!

    Hi there,

Thanks for checking in with me. I'm delighted to say that I've gone nearly 10 days without a cigarette. For me, that is a huge achievement but I'd be lying if I said it has been easy. My wife has also stopped smoking as well, but (unlike me) she has had a couple of wobbles. When she had her first wobble after about 3 days, I was just so close to giving in and having a cigarette...but this has been such an ordeal for me, I wasn't about to give in that easily. Without being able to smoke, there is nothing to combat my anxiety so that has been a real struggle. But I'm hanging in there!
