I smoked cigarettes for 48 years. On the 22 Sep 2023 i went to a Hypnotherapist for a single session to quit smoking. I have to say I didn’t believe in hypnotherapy. All past attempts using methods such as Zyban, NRT patches, cold turkey all failed badly for me. I did see hypnotherapy as a last resort. The Hypnotherapist told me to get rid of all cigarettes from my home, car, handbags etc prior to my appointment. He told me when I have that last cigarette I have to say to myself ‘this is the last cigarette I will ever have’. People say you have to want to give up to quit. I didn’t want to give but due to medical issues I had to give up. The Hypnotherapist was aware of this. During the session all I had to do was sit back, close my eyes, relax and listen. It has been 8 weeks and 3 days since I have had a cigarette. I cant believe it nor understand it. I still want to have a cigarette but I just don’t have one.
