Hi

I've been smoking since I was 13 and now I'm 64, I've tried to give up at least 10 time but no go, I used the smoking patches but never worked, I think because they still have nicotine so you still addicted, what worked for me was I went cold Turkey when ever I feel I need a smoke I suck on a mentos lollie i was expecting huge cravings but got nothing for the 1st 2 weeks I did between 3-4th week its now been 6 weeks since I gave up rarely get a craving now, its great I don't feel any different for it but the mentos were excellent and I've got a pocket full of money. I think you got to want to give up but so far its been pretty easy for me.and I was a heavy smoker

hope that helps someone

Got love the freedom and the money.
I also quit far more easily than I would have expected. This quit was successful because I joined a site like this, learned about me as well as the nicotine addition. When we have the tools to work with , we can make the desired change.
I also quit cold turkey and just got on with it instead of wading into cold water and rocky shore. Just diving in was my preference too!
Deep breaths also lower blood pressure as well as being calming during cravings.l

Hi there. Yes, so many of us had multiple attempts to Quit. That is what happens, however, somehow we find a way!
After all, do you feel that at the age of 64! That's enough?
    Or
After about 50 years of it, is that enough?
    Sending good-luck vibes your way.

thank you guys yes even at 64 you can give up PuffnoMore, I'm still going strong I finally did it, i'm a very active person I'm more like a 40y energy wise, I still get a craving more so because of the habit like after a snack or a cuppa, I still stand by going cold turkey that worked for me it was easier than I expected still using the mentos, I have no intentions to light up if you are using the patches try it and keep positive and get your head into the game

I'd agree cold turkey is the way to go. I smoked from 15 to 30 and quit on the day I brought my wife to hospital to deliver my daughter, after so many failed attempts before that. And it lasted 5 years. I'm now on my 7th day and quite confident what I'll make it again :)

Choosing a good timing to start quitting is critical too. Quitting requires a lot of mental and physical power to deal with all the cravings and discomfort. So it'll be much harder when you're in an already stressful situation for example , when you don't have much left will power to use.
