Now I have been quit for quite a while, I feel a strong sense of well- being and I can also afford to give myself a few rewards. From the money I’m saving. But the feeling really well part is the best bit. Quitting smoking is wonderful for mental health. It also is great for your self esteem and self confidence. Those things are among the many benefits. Even though it has been a tough battle it i...

I thought I was free from wanting to smoke but it appears that I’m not. I feel very irritable and quite depressed and just not happy. I am also very on edge. Why has this happened? I don’t know. Maybe I need to try and re focus or change my thinking. Any advice on how to keep going when I feel like caving in would be helpful

Hi all I am celebrating 🥳 not smoking anymore in my story. It took me a very long time to reach this point in my life, where I can say I am FREE. I have realised so much about smoking how stupid it is and a huge waste of time and money as well as so damaging to ones health. I read the stories and comments to help me stay very firm in my decision to know also that I’m not alone in this. There a...

I think it is very important while quitting to really look after yourself and here is a shortlist of my survival techniques. However it is not really survival anymore, it is the start of celebrating my freedom. Try to see it this way, no matter how long you have ended the misery that is smoking. a few little twinges

I quit on the night of August 3 and since then I have only had a few twinges which are not full on cravings but are like a bit of a desire to smoke. They are certainly not intense and now that I am very determined to stay quit it seems a whole lot easier than before to do. My mind is made up so there’s the determination I really feel good about my final decision to never pick up a cigarette ev...

Well I fell back into smoking after quite a while and now I'm starting again. But all of my previous attempts should come in handy somehow. I know I can do this. Its been a huge struggle for me but tonight August 3 is my quit night and I have already had my last ever smoke. I'm doing this for health reasons mainly as the money part doesn't really bother me. (yet I will also be saving that). I...

I have quit almost 5 weeks ago! I feel good, my skin looks nice n clear and I can smell everything. It’s great to feel in the moment instead of being controlled by nicotine. not giving in ....

Posted in Staying quit 3 May 2023

I’m just over 3 weeks smoke free and I decided to stop using the nicotine patches. I think it’s better to go cold turkey off nicotine. I wouldn’t probably recommend going off the patch to anyone else. I recommend choosing a method of quitting and sticking with it. It’s just I chose cold turkey as I found I was craving anyway on the patch. Quitting is still challenging. I have thought about going...

It’s been 2 weeks since I last smoked a cigarette. I am using the Step 2 (14 mg) patch and it’s working great. If I weren’t determined as well I wouldn’t continue to use them. I feel really confident and feel that this time I’ve done it. Life is so much better. If you think you can’t do it you can. Just an update on my progress, I’m going ok but at times it’s a real challenge. I’ve made up my mind not to smoke, I know it’s the best choice by far to choose not to smoke any more and I just have to get over the current hurdles. I know it’ll get better. Have to stay positive. feeling good about quitting

I’m feeling good after quitting completely 3 days ago. I was down to a single cigarette per day but I decided to quit for good after a short relapse. Now I’m having the odd twinge or yearning for smoking but they only last 10-20 seconds and are getting less as the days pass. I’m really happy with my decision. I’m going to stick with it this time. If anyone needs any help just ask.

    Looking at my reasons

Posted in Reasons to quit 8 Apr 2023

After smoking just one smoke a day for a while I caved in yesterday and bought a packet of tobacco. How disappointed I feel in myself. Take it from me, you can’t smoke any at all ever if you quit just quit and never look back. Quitting completely for a while, I thought I had it in the bag but I didn’t. The addiction to nicotine is sneaky. It will try everything to get you. But it is within our po...

    Down to 1 a day

Hi. This is my current situation with smoking. I have just started 14 mg patches and occasional lozenges. I am smoking one cigarette a day in the late afternoon with a cup of tea. It seems that it’s something I enjoy. I tried desperately hard to quit smoking forever but I was buying an occasional pack and smoking lots at a time, then I would try and stop again. It’s been a roller coaster ride. ...

I have done almost 14 months now with a few major slip ups but I’m going strong currently. I don’t even feel like smoking and I am not experiencing any cravings. I’m still using several nicotine lozenges daily but I hope to stop these soon. Honestly it would feel terrible to smoke again. I smoked for over 35 years and after much trial and tribulation I feel I have finally found freedom from smoking. Whatever happens I will never pick up another cigarette. The last few days I’ve had a few really strong cravings that came up after a year since I quit. I almost caved in on the last one which was fierce. Very recently I had a minor stroke and I attribute this to lifestyle factors like smoking. I am now a very committed quitter and I feel very proud of what I’ve achieved. It’s been a very long road. The stroke was a final wake up call to kick the habit for the sake of my life and for the people who love me and care. It’s so important to take ones health seriously.

My desire to smoke again is leaving me completely. I feel so happy with this and I am using the money saved towards a gym membership, travel and some new clothes. Mr Nic o tine

I have finally realised that Mr Nic o’tine is an evil and wicked tyrant who aims to destroy brain chemistry and invade and break down every tissue and organ of the human body then laughing all the way to the bank. This could sound a bit extreme but that is what smoking does. I have had a lightbulb moment. And that is enough for me to say no more and goodbye forever to this insidious habit.

Hi, I stopped smoking in September 2021 and I was going well for about 5 months which included a few slip ups of a single cigarette. Then in Feb 22, I had a couple of operations in hospital and for some reason around this time I felt highly stressed and smoked on and off for a few weeks. I got terrible headaches and I got a bad cough too, just from this short time of smoking. Since then I am qu...

I felt horrible - really unhealthy and anxious and finally said to myself I don’t want to smoke my life and me is so much better without cigarettes. I really believe that now. I have shared a number of stories on here about successfully quitting nicotine/ smoking. But tonight I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and someone offered me a cigarette. But what is it that I’m missing about it so much that I bummed one after almost 5 months quit ? ...
